Shut Down

I cannot get my computer to shut down. When I click
Start,Shut Down, shut down, OK, the computer acts like it
is going to shut down, but it always Restarts and does not
shut down.
I looked at the bios settings, and everything seems to be
fine. It acts like it is a kind of restart loop that I
don't know how to correct.
I have never had this problem before.
I am using Windows 2000 professional.

Hi Steve , Im having the same problems ... started
yesterday doing a restart loop .Only way to shut down is
to physically turn off the power or hold down the power
off button for 5 secs. I recently installed a new dvd
drive using Roxio Cd Creator 6.0 software .. dunno if that
is the problem since after reading in previous Faq
articles here that there was problems shutting down using
older versions of this software ? Wonder if that Service
pack 4 for Windows 2000 Pro is causing it ? Let's hope
someone here prehaps a MS Tech can give us some answers !
