shut down for no reason

Rob

hello, for the last few days my win 2k pro machine has
been shuting down (restarting) every now and again for no
reason.
The same thing has been happening to a laptop within the
company which is on win xp pro.

My win 2k machine has had the blast virus which had been
removed and I put the service pack 4 on to try and solve
the shutting down problem, but nothing has changed.

Nothing seems to be causing the machine to shut down. the
other night I left the machine on and it had restarted in
the night. It was connected to the network but no internet
connection so no one could have done funny things with it.

cheers for any help
rob

Rob.
Unfortunately you are not alone. I donot have a fix, but
I can tell you that I had and continue to have all the
latest M$ patches/service pack upgrades & Symantec virus
definitions installed. Still I see my Win2K OS machine
occasionally shutting down and restarting.
