Shrinking my .PST file

My PST file grew to 1.4GB. I autoarchived and it has only shrunk to 1.2GB.
How can I substantially reduce the size still further?

Deleting items in your local message store does not physically delete
those items. In database parlance, deleting an record only *marks* it
with "Deleted" status which means that it isn't seen using normal
queries - but it is still there (and why in most databases you could
recover that delete-marked data). It is not until you purge all the
delete-marked items before you get back the disk space that they
consumed. Purging delete-marked items will physically remove them from
the database and restructure all the records within it. In Outlook
Express, purging is referred to as compaction. So compact your message
store and, voila, the size will then get physically smaller.
