Showing Formula in Cells and not Results

I have a text field, and programmed several formulas (left, mid, right) to
pull data from this text field. While in the formula editor, the formulas
worked correctly, however the sheet only displays the formula and not the
results. The sheet is not in "formula" mode (tools/options/view/formula box
is not checked), nor have I accidentally hit control ~.

Is the cell that contains the formula formatted as text? If so, format it as
General and re-enter the formula.

You have probably got the cell formatted as text. To correct this:

Click on the cell containing the formula
Press CTRL+1 to bring up the Format Cells window
In the Number section set the format to General and click OK
Now press your F2 function key while in the same cell and press Enter, you
should now see the results.

It worked great. It seems odd, however, that I was using a text function and
the format of the cell being text was the problem. I would think that if it
was not text, I would get an error...Thanks for your help!
