Showing Contacts in Folders Column

In Outlook Express, I could show my list of contacts below the Folders List
(in a column at the left of the messages. I don't see an option to do that
in Windows Mail. Whenever I create a message, I have to use Tools/Select
Recipients method, which is inconvenient. Am I missing something?
 
No, you can't show your contacts below the folders.

When you compose, just click on To:
 
Sadly, it seems that with the improvements, we've lost the convenience of
just clicking on a contact in the column on the left to open a new message.
It was so nice just to be able to do that with one step - now there's 4 steps
just to accomplish the same thing.
