Show contents of filter items elsewhere

When a sheet is filtered the contents of a column are sorted and each value
only appears once in the list. I want to view the contents of the filtered
items viewed from a dropdown list in another sheet within a workbook.
Anyone know if this is possible! Or will it require a different approach,
say a formula in Data/Validation/List.

Your thought are most appreciated.
