Should I use Producer?

I have a Sony camcorder model DCR-PC109. It connects to my computer through
a USB port. I want to move files from the camera to a compueter running
Windows XP. I would like to edit themovies into 2-3 minute segments and use
them in PPP. How should I do this? Should I use Microsoft Producer ?
