Should be able to "turn off" mail accounts without deleting them.

RE: Outlook 2003, Outlook Express 6

I need to use different e-mail accounts - broadband, dial-up, and dial-up
with a cell or sat phone - but only use one at a time. As far as I can tell,
both Outlook and Outlook Express offer no way to inactivate an account or
alternatively, select an account to use with out deleting the others.

Usually it's just an annoyance with error messages for the account that
can't connect. When the connection time is expensive - cell phone in a
strange place or sat phone anytime - it gets expensive while Outlook or OE
fumbles around trying to connect with all the accounts that are set up.

You can do this for I-don't-know-how-many-versions already in Outlook by
setting up Send/Receive groups;
Tools-> Options-> button Mail Setup-> button Send/Receive. You can press the
Edit... button for even more options.

Use Tools-> Send Receive to choose which download schema you want to use.

And for Outlook Express, Tools->Accounts->properties for your selected
account->general tab, uncheck "include this account in send/receive..."
