Should a Gigabyte GA-7VA work with AthlonXP 2600+?

I've got a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard that says it supports FSB333 and I
have bought an Athlon XP 2600+ FSB333 to go with it. Unfortunately it
doesn't work. The motherboard works with an older XP with a lower clock
speed so that seems fine, but on looking at the CPU it states that it has
512KB L2 cache. The motherboard only mentions 128K L1 & 256K/64K L2 cache
on die. Is this likely to be the problem? The CPU I ordered stated it only
had 256K L2 cache so I think they sent me the wrong one.
Any ideas anyone?

Download SiSandra 2004 or AIDA32- it will give you all the info on your CPU
and motherboard so you can verify what you have.

Without wanting to sound rude, the processor doesn't work so I can't run
anything!

333FSB processor which won't boot at all. All the parts are
new and the motherboard works fine with an AthlonXP 1900+
300W Jeantech model no. ATX-1125BTA
+3.3V 20A +5V 26A +12V 13A
+3.3V & 5V combined load 175W

The power supply's +3.3v & +5V combined capacity may be too low since
the GA-7VA motherboard runs the CPU from the +5V (only 1 power
connector), and while 175W should be enough, published ratings are
often exaggerated. Try borrowing a quality power supply rated for at
least 350W, and if the computer works with it then you know that the
Jeantech is defective or inadequate.

Max CPU for that chipset is XP2800+. You may need a BIOS update. You
need to provide more information than just 'doesn't work'.
