Shorthand for Century

How do you write the C for Century when writing for e.g. 21st Century the
quick way?

Is there something wrong with the ordinary character C? What do you mean by
"the quick way"?

Thanks for reply, Jay, have only just picked it up, sorry! I want to write
C21st but the 'C' should wrap around the 21 or it doesn't look right. There
must be a way of doing this simply.

I don't know how common or correct it is, but I have certainly seen it.

I also don't know any easy way to do it, but there is an awkward way .....

Type C21 (or whatever century you want)

Select the C and increase the font size to one that's big enough
(perhaps double the font size of the number)

Select the C and Format > Font > Character Spacing
Set Spacing to Condensed by a number of points that looks good (perhaps
half the font size of the C)

Select the number (both digits) and Format > Font > Character Spacing
Set the Position to Raised by a number of points that looks good
(perhaps a third of the font size of the number)

You might also be able to use the EQ \o field in combination with the font
size and spacing controls.

Doesn't that insist on all characters being the same font?

Thanks Tony and Sue. Had a feeling it would involve character size but had
forgotten about spacing. I'll give it a go. I'm afraid I don't understand
Sue's suggestion.

I just created this field:

{ EQ \o (C,20) }

The C is Arial 24 pt; the 20 is TNR 12 pt, raised 4 pts. The C encircles the
20. It's not perfect, but it illustrates the concept.

I had assumed (why do I keep on doing that?) that, as they scaled as a
single character, they had to be the same to start with - silly me
