I added a print directory command in control panel, folder options. Somehow,
when I did this, I changed the default action for when a user double clicks
on a folder. Computer automatically goes out to search mode when a folder is
double clicked. I looked at the shortcut menu (menu that comes up when
folder is right clicked) and SEARCH is at the top of the menu in bold. In
control panel, under folder options, file types, there are two categories
pertaining to folders - file folder & folder. If you go to advanced then go
to file folder the actions in there are find and print directory listing. If
you go to folder the actions in there are explore and open. I cannot remove
the print directory listing from the file folder category either. Can
anybody out there tell me what I did and what I need to do to fix it?
THANK YOU

Here are a few solutions you might want to investigate:

No need to do a system restore.

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Thank you! I went to those two links. It looks like the computer just sort
of does that when you add an action in the file types. Now I know I didn't
just hit something wrong & I know how to fix it in the future! Awesome.

Thank you! That was the fix in one of the links that nepatsfan sent. I
really appreciate the help, I was going nuts.
