Shortcut Icons

I'm running XP Home (SP1)

While all the shortcut icons on my desktop for Windows etc have no little
curly arrows (having nuked them ages ago) I have two shortcut icons for
Internet Explorer, to my favourite newspaper website and tv lisitings, that
have the thing in the bottom left of the icon.

Is there a way to get rid of this arrow in IE6 - I guess its hidden away in
the registry somewhere...

Try TweakUI:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Run TweakUI , expand "Explorer" Section and click on "Shortcut".
