Shortcut for Particular Note??

Using Outlook 2003 (all of Microsoft Office 2003 Pro), with Windows XP Pro
SP2.

On the left side of the Outlook window there is a bar ("Navigation Pane"?),
with icons for all the Outlook sub-apps (Mail Calendar, Notes, Contacts,
etc.). You can switch between these apps by a single click on an icon. I
believe there is also a keyboard shortcut associated with each of these
apps, so one can switch between them with the keyboard shortcut rather than
a mouse click, if desired. Above those shortcuts are associated folders.

One icon is called "Shortcuts", but nothing happens when I click on that.
What is it supposed to do, and why does it do nothing when I click on it?

When I right-click on this pane, there is a setting "Navigation Pane
Options", with which one can re-order these icons, add and subtract them,
etc.

As mentioned, of course there is an icon for "Notes", one of the sub-apps.
My main question here is--is there a way to add an icon there for a
particular note? For instance--what if one has a note called "Shopping
List", in which one keeps one's shopping list. (Transferred to a PDA to
actually take shopping, of course.) One might want to open that note
frequently, to add more items to buy, and to delete items bought. It would
be nice, rather than clicking on "Notes", then having to scroll through my
notes to find the "Shopping List" note, to have an icon there to directly
open that note, as well as the general "Notes" icon?

Also, is there a way to add such a shortcut (to a particular note) to the
Start Menu and/or the Quick Launch bar?

The shortcut icon allows you to add folders to the shortcuts that you
frequently use. I have my calendar, in-box, a couple of frequently accessed
folders and a couple of public folder favorites in there. It gives you a
quick overview of what YOU think is important to view first in Outlook.

OK, thank you. But that wasn't the main part of my question. Could you (or
anyone) answer that--is there a way to create a shortcut to a particular
note?
