Shortcut for degree symbol

T

Top Spin

If I click on Insert / Symbol and then locate the degree symbol, it
says at the bottom that the shortcut key is "Ctrl + @, Space".

Is that correct?

What does it mean?

If I hold down the Ctrl key and press the "@" key, it does something
to the line spacing. Then pressing comma and/or space does nothing.

Thanks

Note that in order to get Ctrl+@, you actually have to press
Ctrl+Shift+something. On U.S. keyboards, the something is 2. When you press
Ctrl+2, you're getting double spacing. Press Ctrl+Shift+2, release, then
Spacebar, and you will get a degree symbol.

Hi, Top Spin. Try holding down the Ctrl and Shift keys at the same time, press the @ key, release all the keys, then press the Spacebar.

Doh! I suppose I should have figured that one out.

Why do they write as Ctrl + @, rather than Ctrl-Sh-2, which I would
find much more obvous?

Are they trying to associate the "@" (which maybe looks a little like
a degree symbol)?

In any case, thanks for that.

I think the shortcut is Ctrl+@ on all keyboards, but on some keyboards @ is
not above 2, so Ctrl+Shift+2 would not be correct.

ALT 167 (numbers entered on keypad) should work on all systems, no?

Yes, but some users don't have access to a numeric keypad.
