In my unused desktop folder, I have quite a few shortcut doubling up with the
shortcut on my desktop.What should I do with the one in the folder? It is
safe to delete them?

Yes the shortcuts are safe to delete in the "Unused Desktop" Folder
especially if you have the same shortcuts on your Desktop.
