short cut to close XP Pro

When I had Win98 I had a shortcut on my desktop, one click and 'puter was
shut down, is there one like that for XP Pro?

Make a shortcut that reads:
X:WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0

X being your XP partition.

To add (hit send key by mistake)

Start | Run <type in>
%windir%\hh.exe ms-its:e:\Windows\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm
<enter>
Select S and Shutdown
it will show you the switches that are available with the shutdown
command
