Shift+delete

All of a sudden when I hit shift delete, the computer
hangs for 10 seconds or so before confirming delete, it
used to take less than a second??? Any ideas?

Does it do this in all folders or just a specific folder..?

AVI files? I think it is normal since XP insists on copying AVI files
into memory before doing file operations.

It happens on all types of files, evan a small excel file!

It is happening in forders or even on the desktop.
