shell386.exe??

When I am online, it seems like every second I get a pop up telling my
"shell386.exe." has occured. I have hit the Send Report Tab, but it just
keeps coming. Also my search engines bring me to the same results everytime.
I just purchased Norton SystemWorks, but that did not solve the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the RazeSpyware

Download Haxdoor.exe from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Haxdoor.exe

Execute; Haxdoor.exe { Note: You must accept the default of C:\McAfee }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; c:\mcafee\clean.bat
{ or Double-click on 'Clean Link' in c:\mcafee }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to enable WGET.EXE to download the needed McAfee related files.

It is suggested that you perform a Normal Mode then a Safe Mode scan.

A final report in HTML format called C:\mcafee\Normal_ScanReport.HTML or
C:\mcafee\Safe_ScanReport.HTML will be generated. At the end of the scan, it will be
displayed in your browser (Opera, FireFox or Internet Explorer). However, if you are using
WinXP, Win2K or Win2003 your system will be left in a state where you will have to manually
shutdown/reboot the PC. On Win9x/ME platforms the report will not be shown in your bowser
but your PC will automatically be shutdown. It is suggested that you move the report out of
c:\mcafee before performing another scan.
It would be best to scan in both Safe Mode and in Normal Mode and save a copy of the HTML
report for each session.

Please Copy and Paste the contents of the HTML Log files;
C:\mcafee\Normal_ScanReport.HTML & C:\mcafee\Safe_ScanReport.HTML in your reply.

Dave,
I tried the Haxdoor, and it scanned the computer. I got to the state where I had to manually reboot and didn't know how to so I turned the computer off. I turned the computer back on, it seemed pretty good, but now I can't connect to the internet? I have Comcast High Speed internet and when I go to the internet, it says cannot find server. If there is anything else you could advise me with, please let me know. I did not know how to keep the report from Haxdoor to paste in my response. Thanks,
Keith

Dave,
I really appreciate you responding to my posts, thanks. I am on my
neighbors computer, that is how I am able to post. I am going to try the
Haxdoor again, everything seems good except the connecting to the internet.
I tried to reinstall, Comcast High Speed Internet from the CD provided, but
it said I had no network adaptors available. I am going to try again though,
and let you know of my results. Thanks, again.

Either two things happend...

a LSP plugi-in was inserted and you nedt o remove it.

If it is WinXP SP2, open a Command Prompt and type...

netsh winsock reset

Then close the windows and reboot and see if all is OK again.

If it is NOT WinXP SP2...

Use LSP Fix...
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

If the above doesn't cure it,

Go to; Control Panel --> Network Connections
Right Click on Local Area Connection and choose properties

Write down the settings.

Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and remove it.

Reboot the PC.

Go to; Control Panel --> Network Connections
Right Click on Local Area Connection and choose properties

Choose Install --> Protocol --> TCP/IP

Use the settings that were written down. You may or may not need to reboot.

See if you are OK.
