shell execute block

Using MAS beta -- a scan suggested that a shell execute hook be blocked --
the description, as near as I could tell, made the block seem important.
However, now IE no longer haS a "Favorites" capability and some (more than
some?) programs cant' be uninstalled. Running XP (with Norton AV software).
A previous post on this brought a suggestion to run this command- regsvr32
msvbvm60.dll - ; it did run successfully but had no effect that I could tell.

Other ideas or help here?

Is that MSAS betea 1? If so, go to advanced tools>blocked items and unblock
the item. Use system explorers and try to find out what it is once it is
unblocked. Or run another scan an get the exact description and post it here.
