Nearly every time I exit Internet Explorer, I get the
following: "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." bla-bla-bla...

When I click on details, it lists the problem as ModName:
shdocvw.dll

I cannot find any KB entry regarding this and cannot find
any help from MS. Anybody else have any suggestions?
This is getting very irritating.

Thanks

I don't like that article. Try this:

Start | Run | regsvr32 shdocvw.dll | OK | OK.

Start | Run | regsvr32 thumbvw.dll | OK | OK

Start | Run | regsvr32 wshom.ocx | OK | OK

Nope - that is not the answer. I am running Win2K and
this occurs almost EVERYTIME I finish surfing and exit
Internet Explorer.

I will try these three things. I am told that I cna also
go to Safe Mode Rename to shdocvw.old and reboot. But how
will this solve unless I reinstall the file from a CAB?

Thanks for your suggestions

It's a protected system file. So it gets pulled out of one of two places. Either C:\WINNT\system32\dllcache or out of C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386.
