Sharing workbook

An excel file was shared by selecting "Tool/Share Workbook.." menu item
At the same time the folder in which the file is located is set wit
"permission" at "full control". On opening the file, the status seen i
"(read only) (shared)". How do I get rid of the "read only" status. Al
assist appreciated with tx.

A user can choose to open a file readonly. But I bet that your user didn't do
that.

Excel works with windows very closely. If the user only has readonly rights to
that location, then excel will respect that and open the workbook readonly.

I'd double check those settings for that network share.

Can the user save a text file (from notepad) to that same location?
