'Sharing' suddenly looks different and unuseable

I have a WIN XP Pro machine.

If I right-click a folder and select 'Sharing', all looks normal and
operational.

However, I've just notices that if I do teh same for a disk, I get a
different looking dialogue which says that teh disk is already shared. There
is a 'Permissions' button and when I press that, I get a message telling me
that teh disk has been shared for 'Administrative purposes' and I can't alter
the permissions.

There's a radio button selection for 'Do not share', but if I select this, I
am told that it will just go back to being shared for 'Administrative
purposes' on re-booting.

There is no 'sharing hand' sign under teh disks in question.

If anyone can help me understand this and get back to 'normal', I'd much
appreciate it.

Thanks,

Steven Lyall

Please ignore my question and plea for help - I had simply neglected to check
the 'use simple file sharing' box.

Thanks,

Steven

This is normal. There's a hidden administrative share for the hard
drives...for all of them. I don't recommend sharing the root of a drive
anyway - set up a folder & subfolders, and share the parent folder.
