Sharing Printers

I have a unique database application that I am trying to share a printer,
non-networked, in order for the laptop, without a parallel port, to use. We
have purchased a usb to parallel printer cable and works fine for all other
printing. Any suggestions on how to get this unique application to recognize
the USB printing ports?

Your post is fairly vague.

Have you tried an actual USB parrallel port I/O adapter device with a
standard IEEE 1284 printer cable?

Yes, and the laptop recognized the printer and prints. The unique
application does not. Thanks for asking.
