We have a small office with 6 PCs, all with Win 2000 installed. One acts as
a unattended "server" for backup purposes - this contains all Word etc
documents and gets backed up every night using Norton Ghost.
We are trying to share our Office (2000) Contact List. At the moment we've
made the Contact folder into a shared folder on the server and have sent
"invitations" to the workstations to share the data.
Problem is that the synchronisation is done using Microsoft Mail and I
assume that the contacts on the Server don't update unless somebody logs in
and opens Outlook. This won't be happening much because the Server is
unattended. We'd also like to have all updates to the Contact list
synchronised rapidly to the server so that everything gets backed up
properly.
One option would be to share everyone's Contacts folder with everyone else
on the network, but this would not update the folder on the server.
Is there a simple way of doing this without installing Exchange server? Are
there any third party utilities that allow this to be done?
TIA.
