Sharing "my contacts" and DLs

1.) why does a DL work differently dependant on the user?

I have shared "my contacts" with a fellow employee. When they send a
message to any one of my three DLs in my contacts, she gets an error message
(contacts wi one DL did not receive message). When I use the same DL, I do
not get an error.

2.) Is it due to the fact that my DLs have smaller DLs within them?

My distribution list is three tiered, in that #A is primary, #B includes #A
plus a few more contacts, and #C includes #B plus a few more contacts. So
there are DLs inside of DLs

Any number of possibilities, the most common of which is that the
installation is using an autocompletion entry, not the DL itself.
