I currently have a cat5 cable connected from my dsl modem
to my 8 port switch, then i have another cat 5 cable
going from both my computers to ports on the switch. I
can only access the internet on the computer which has
the modem installed on it. How can i access the internet
on my other computer?
cheers,
John

Your current configuration will not work unless your ISP is giving you two
IP addresses. You need to install a router with NAT (Network Address
Translation); or you can turn one of your computers into a router by
installing a second network adapter and using Windows ICS (Internet
Connection Sharing).
