sharing custom dictionaries with Word

Am I correct in thinking that PowerPoint 2000 is incapable of sharing
Word's custom spelling dictionaries, except for CUSTOM.DIC? I have six
such dictionaries in my 'Application Data\Microsoft\Proof' directory
that Word uses, but so far as I can tell, PowerPoint is ignorant of
those dictionaries, except for the one called CUSTOM.DIC.

(In case you're wondering, I have one dictionary for names of languages,
another for authors I frequently cite, two others for people in mailing
lists, etc. Yes, I could combine them all, but I'd rather not.)

My best guess is that you could "fake it" by saving your other custom
dictionaries by replacing language dictionaries (rarely used) that can be
used by PowerPoint.

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought of that.

I guess at this point I'll just chalk it up to an inconsistency between
PP and Word (one of many--obviously, the two programs can't be exactly
the same, but there are certainly places where they could be closer).

Strangely, it appears that PP does in fact know about the other .dic
files, in the sense that it offers to save words I add to any of these
files. It just doesn't know how to _use_ the dictionaries other than
CUSTOM.DIC, so far as I can tell.
