Sharing a printer over a LAN only to a limited users

1. Please let me know how to set permission to use a printer attached to a
computer only to specified group/individual users under a LAN. (OS Win XP
pro SP 2)

problem I have is when I share the printer other users send their print jobs
thinking this as their common printer. Its hard to let them know whats going
on and what they should not do.

2. Same as above is there a way to allow specified set of users over a LAN
to read and write to the shared folder of a certain computer. Currently
reading is allowed to all but all the users in the network can see the stuff
in there.

Technical details (As I understand)

There is no domain here. Each computer in the network is connected to a
switch or a router. Then, to access internet all the computers have to call a
proxy.

Thanking in advance

If you have XP Pro, and do not use simple file sharing, you can set up
matching user accounts & passwords on all PCs. On the "host" PC, where the
files/printer live, you can grant permissions to only those local users you
wish (which match the "remote" users' accounts).

Without a domain, all this sort of thing is a bit of a pain.
