Shared folders are no longer visible

My computer is part of two networks. At work, I'm part of a domain. At
home, I'm part of a workgroup with one other computer. Through the help of
someone responding to this newsgroup, I was able to get them both
working/coexisting.

As part of that solution, I created a second account (this time local and
not part of the domain) for the home network. Everything was working fine.

I'm not sure when, but the laptop computer that I move between work and home
("work computer") now only shows the shared folder XP created on the home
computer at installation. It no longer shows any of the shared folders I
created on either computer.

I tried to mimic the "Sharing and Security" settings of that singular shared
folder that works on the home computer, but it hasn't made a difference.

I copied the user profile of the work/domain account to the local account,
and maybe this has messed things up? I deleted entries out of the "NetHood"
folder and that hasn't made a difference.

Incidentally, the home computer can see the shared folders on the work
computer, but local shared folders don't show up in Network Neighborhood. I
don't know if this is the same problem or not, but I was thinking I would
address this later.

Does anyone know how I Ken get all of my shared folders to it?

You have a browser issue. I'd bet that domain security policies are part of the

I will check those things out. I'm just curious - since everything was
working correctly, do you think copying one profile to another had anything
to do with it? And if so, how?

Ken,

Excepting the ability for administrative users to "see" administrative shares
("$C" for instance), permissions don't generally restrict visibility of shares.
I don't see an immediate connection between your copying profiles and your
symptoms right now.

Any time that you move a computer between two networks (browse domains), you do
have possible problems though. And when you throw in a laptop (possible WiFi?),
you have more possibilities. Developing a solution for your scenario is
typically a one-off procedure - no cookie cutting here. So we need to start by
looking at the browsing setup.

issue. I still have this problem and I'd like to move forward In finding a
solution.
