Hi,
Dont know if this is the correct group or not but help will be much
appreciated.
I have a problem with the shared documents folder. There are three user
acc on my computer. One is administrator and the other two are power users.
Right now there is about 10.1 GB of stuff in my shared folder. The problem
is when I am logged in as the power user (not as the administrator) and try
to add files to the shared folder, there is an error message which says
"cannot move the file to the shared folder/make sure the disc is not write
protected or full". I have tried to change the attributes of the folder
using command line. When I check the properties of the shared documents
folder (while logged in as administrator), the read only box has a square in
it (not a tick). I tried to make it disappear but it keeps coming back up. I
dont know what else could be done. I would be very glad if you guys can help
me.
P.S. I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2 (RC2) installed.
Although this problem was present even before I installed SP2.
I hope the message is clear. Thanx, Shyam.

Greetings:

If I understood your message correctly, the Read Only square is not
checked...
but that is not the problem, the problem is the power user does not have the
necessary privileges to that folder. Rights assignment can be made in the
security tab, to make the tab present you must be running NTFS file system
and have simple file sharing enabled; in Windows Explorer\Tools\Folder
Options\
View\uncheck Simple file sharing (recommended).
go to folder properties\security\for complete access select the power users
group and check full control. If Read Only privileges are the problem click
on
the next link for the appropriate information. It's basically the same
procedure as
granting full control to a group or account.
