shared folder privilages

Our office (and engineering company with 15+/- computers)
recently got networked to take advantage of a DSL
connection. By default I'm the network person (read
that "learning as I go")and I've established 3 workgroups
in a peer-to-peer setup with sharing privilages on certain
folders.

One of these folders is a in-progress work folder (on one
computer)that others need to see.
The question is how do I limit the other two workgroups to
copy privilages only but keep the others in the third
workgroup able to edit.

Our O/S range from Win98 to XP Pro. The project folder is
on a XP Pro machine (NTFS) that has to allow editing
privilages to another XP Pro machine (Fat32).

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the article. I followed the instructions
but stalled on the Add option to add to the Group or user
names. The NFTS XP doesn't show groups but lists all the
available folders in the network. The older O/S shows
Groups. Is this a setting on XP and can I change it? Or
do I have to set permission settings for each machine?

Thanks again for the help

Hello,
You will have to create the groups locally on the workstation hosting the
share/files. Once created you can manage thier permissions to the shares.
