Shared Drive

Hi,

I created a security workgroup for a database on a shared drive. I created
it in exclusive mode. Now that I've joined users, I've realized that the
security defaults apply not exclusively to the database that I intended, but
to all of the databases on each individuals computers, or personal drives.
Help!

Access always uses a workgroup file (mdw), even for unsecured databases. It sounds like you set their default workgroup to your secure mdw. That is why it is asking for a username/password. The mdw is tied to the session of Access, not to a database.

Rejoin them to the system.mdw that ships with Access, and provide a desktop shortcut for the secure mdb. The shortcut target would have the following in it:
"path to msaccess.exe" "path to secure mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"
