Shared directory issue

S

Steve Gould

I am working on some computers (all Win XP Pro) that are going to be in a
remote lab. One workstation will act as a server for storing files and
sharing a printer for the other workstations. All computers belong to our
domain, but will not be connected to the domain at all in our remote lab. I
set up everything and then moved the computers to a different subnet. The
workstations can no longer access the shared directory on the one computer
because they can't verify their credentials. I have checked the share
permissions and it's everybody full control.

All lab computers are logged into the same domain account so should be able
to access each other even if not on the domain, but that isn't the case.
Suggestions? Do I need to switch to a workgroup instead of the domain?

If your workstations cant access domain anymore then there is no point of
having them in domain. For authentication to work properly they have to be
able to access DC's. Move them to the workgroup and create local accounts or
leave them in domain but logon using local accounts.
