Shared Database

Hello,
How do I set up an Access 2003 database that will allow more than 1 user to
update or add new records at the same time. The default open mode is
already set to shared but my staff cannot access the database if someone else
already has it open on their pc.

I need to have a shared workbook - similar to that of a shared workbook in
excel.

Any thoughts? thanks in advance.
 
Is your database split into Front-End and Back-End and each user has a copy
of the FE on his / her Desktop?
