Do you HAVE to use an SP2-slipstreamed XP install disc when running sfc
/scannow after installation of SP2?
I have a syrupy slow system which doesn't seem to be releasing memory
properly or it is keeping programs running somehow on my system after I have
closed them. For example, after I have closed Word, and shut down the
system, I receive the WAIT message that the shut down procedure is trying to
close WinWord which I thought I had closed hours earlier
This seems like a problem which SFC cured for me in the past with XP and
2000 but now I have SP2 installed
I cant imagine SFC will replace SP2 files with pre-SP2 ones if you run SFC
with SP2 installed from an ordinary post-SP1 install CD but does anyone know
about this for sure? Can you run SFC and then RE-run SP2 from its install
disc to update any necessary files?
