I noticed that my hardware manager shows 4 standard monitors and one plug &
play device, allthough it is a notebook unit and I never tried to connect any
other monitor unit on it. Wd. be grateful if someone could explain, if this
is normal behavior in XP SP2 or if it is caused by installations of any
programms. If it is a malfunction, how can I deactivate them safely? Can't
detect any problems with that situation, unless a slight slowdown might be
happenig, that I do not perceive.

XP SP2 isnt involved, its youre display adapters software.Usually one can
select monitor 1 to confirm default is at use...

Tx for your reply. I certainly didn't take any action to cause that
configuration. But my questions are: is it necessary to have 5 monitors at
choice in my setup? do you know any stadard programmes or plugins who require
that? does it consume resources? can I, should I get rid of the superfluous
ones? how can I deactivate that withour risk? which one should be kept? Here
is what my monitor type slot shows: Standardmonitor
