Setups and global settings- new customer

New User here- very frustrated over little things......

1- How do you turn off those atrocious 'separate by day' settings for my
folders. I just want a list of mail..not separated by day, week, month,
person, etc...
2- How do you make the mail sort descending on all folders without having to
edit every single folder by hand (I have about 75). They are all set 'upside
down' and it makes checking your mail chronologically a hard thing.
3- How do you make the 'help' section never appear when you hit 'help' and
just go to the website instead (it is really annoying)
4- How do you add/subtract info that shows up in the preview pane as far as
headers (email, subject, etc) and how do you make it always show the senders'
email?
5- Why does outlook not import outlook express stuff correctly and it must
be done by exporting FROM outlook express. This was found online as a last
ditch effort to find a way to make it work.?? Should'nt this be part of a
patch or something?

There is more, but I figured I would make a new one later...

View menu > Arrange By > Uncheck the "Show in Groups" option.

As far as I know, you must edit each folder individually. Perhaps someone
else knows a workaround for this but I don't.
3- How do you make the 'help' section never appear when you hit 'help' and

Don't know if that can be done, either.
4- How do you add/subtract info that shows up in the preview pane as far as
headers (email, subject, etc) and how do you make it always show the senders'
email?

I don't use the Reading Pane, so I don't know.

It's just the way that Outlook works. Outlook Express' Export feature is
more robust, as far as messages go. Go figure.

1) View-> Arrange By-> Show in Groups

2) Make sure that all folders are still in the default view (start Outlook
with the /cleanviews switch) and edit the default Messages view;
View-> Arrange By-> Current View-> Define Views
Also see http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/classicview2003.htm

3) You can't. What is so annoying about it?

4) You can toggle the header on/off by going to your view settings or by
rightclicking on the gray area around the e-mail. You cannot select items
you want to display. You can use your columns for that. The sender address
is shown when you rightclick the name

5) Known issue and being looked into. Probably hard to patch. Exporting from
OE provides a good workaround.

The techniques for modifying the default view are covered here:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/grouping.htm

The local Help has extentive infiormation. Why would you want to consult
the web first? At any rate, I don't think you can do what you want.

You don't. The Reading Pane will always show the subject, the sender, the
Infobar (I think), and the recipients.

The only thing Outlook does not import correctly from Outlook Express is the
time stamps on mail messages. Other than that, it's fine. What do you
believe is not imported correctly?

Brina-
The help section is annoying because when it 'appears' it minimizes the
reading and nav panes..then I have to keep closing it all the time. Almost
everytime I accessed teh search feature it went online. Infact everytime I
used it it went online to the website...so that is annoying as hell to have
to keep closing it...the same with the clipboard, that thing is just as
annoying...lol

As for outlook express be imported by outlook, you will get many errors.
Mail will become dated 'today' even though it is from 3 years ago. The rules
for messages are not properly added and in my case half of them never showed
up... by exporting from OE was the fix. Very strange.

That's never happened to me.
