Setup Eval Enviro

Hi

I am trying to set up the Kit from the Eval CD's.
First installed the complete package (Tools, MSDE, Database, RemoteBoot) on
a Server 2003 SP1. Locally on the server, everything seems fine.
I then set up the Tools only on a XP SP2 client. However, I am not able to
connect to the database on the server. Maybe the Firewall (on server or
client) does not allow the traffic.

Does anybody have a hint where to look at, or what port to open on which of
the systems?

Franz,

If you suspect the issue is there due to Firewall, just turn it off temporarily and see if it helps.

Tried both ... did not help. Still not able to connect.

Franz,

It is still good to know that it wasn't the Firewall that was preventing your machine from connecting the server.

Double check if you have the latest version of MDAC installed on the client.
Other than that you would first want to make sure you get a connection from client to the SQL Server (MSDE) on your server. (follow
the troubleshooting section of the Product Installation guide).
