hi -- i somehow seemed to have extracted a program to be
installed to the root of one of my secondary drives. i have
deleted the autorun.inf, and the setup file -- but now i
get an error saying that setup.exe is missing, and it is
needed to open files of type "file".

can someone please tell me how to fix this? i don't see any
way to change the associated program with "file" (and what
would i even change it to?).

thanks so much.

Did you reboot the computer after deleting the autorun.inf.?

If so, download "drive" association fix from here:

Hi,

Removing the autorun should have been enough or rather renaming it. Did you
backup Setup.exe or deleted it?

1. Browse to the appropriate Setup.exe or Install.exe program
2. Right click on the setup program and select "Run As..."
3. Uncheck the box that says protect my computer and data from unauthorized
program activity.

Note: Doing this alters the default protection only for this
operation/setup program... it does NOT disable it permanently.

If none of the above pertains, go to Start/Run/Regedit and type in:
regsvr32 /i shell32

Ramesh,

Just curious why you would have CMD under Drive instead of Directory and
use: cmd.exe /k \"cd %L\ instead of: cmd.exe /k cd %1

It still works, Kelly. the mistake is did is I copied the same string from
the "folder" registry key. Thanks for notifying.
