Settlers 4 not loading on 2.6 Ghz P4C computer

I have a new PC with this comfiguration:

Pentium 4 PC 2.6Ghz processor C Version (800MHz FSB)
1Gb RAM
ASUS Nvidia graphics card FX5200
IC7-G motherboard Abit
120Gb HDD

With this configuration the settlers 4 is giving me an error Fatal
exception divide by zero message with the following trace file:

.......
[ 10/11/2003 17:09:57 ] Exception 0xc0000094 at 0x004e19a6!

S4_Main.exe (time stamp 0x3de21761) caused an integer divide by zero
exception in
module S4_Main.exe (time stamp 0x3de21761, base address 0x00400000)
at 001b:004e19a6.

Registers:

EDX=00000000 ES=0023 EDI=00000000 GS=0000
.......

I tried it out on another pentium 4 machine without any problem. But
on this PC the FSB was 533Mhz and with 512Mb RAM.

Any ideas on what there could be wrong? I installed the settlers 4 on
a 2nd partition (maybe it could be a problem... i doubt it..)

Aaron

Doubt that.

Can install it anywhere.

HMM EAX.

Have you updated your sound card drivers ??

Onboard sound or card ?

Hello,

Thanks for the immediate reply. I have updated all the drivers. What I
have noted over the weekend is that the game WORKS with a lower FSB
(400Mhz) Motherboard Freq set to 100Mhz instead of the original 200Mhz
(800Mhz FSB). At this speed the CPU running at 1.3 Ghz the game worked
even with hyperthreading switched to ON. I really cannot understand
this strange behaviour of this PC.

Thanks for the help you gave me and best regards,
Aaron

I have a 2.66GHz P4, WinXP, GeForce 4 MX440 and I've had no problems with Settlers 4 at all.
It works well even with all settings set at high.

A solution

I had the same problem. The game used to work fine on my old windows XP machine, but on my new system I get an alert box saying: " fatal error: exception 0xc0000094 at 0x004e19a6"

My old machine had a 3GHz Pentium 4 HT processor, & 512MB RAM. My new machine has a 3.4GHz Pentium D Dual Core processor, 4GB RAM and a PCI-Express GFX Card.

But I found a simple solution to the problem: If I run the game in compatability mode for Windows 98/Me, it works fine.

For anyone who doesn't know how to do this, just go to C:\BlueByte\The Settlers IV\ (or whatever install path you chose for the game), right click on S4.exe and click properties, click the Cmpatablitiy tab, then check the box
that says Run this program in compatability mode for, and select Windows 98 / Me in the drop down list below it.

Hi,
I have looked on the internet about a fatal error of The Settlers 4, but only answers in French.
I hope someone here can give me an answer:

I get the fatal error: exception 0x0000094 at 0x004dc596!

I really don't know why I get this message, but I would love to play this game! I tried to run it with the compatability of Win98/ME, but nothing! Still the same message.

Can someone please help me with this?
