Settings "grayed out"

J

Jan Agermose

Hi

We upgraded a few clients (Windows XP nad /Outlook or Outlook express)
to Outlook 2003 to connect to an Exchange 2003.

Some of the clients have some options "greyed out".

I for one cannot change the junkmail setting. Its set to "don't ask just
delete" - don't like that option, but Im unable to change it.

One user cannot change the setting to include his personal contacts in
the addressbook - makes it somewhat a pain to write new mails as he has
to open the addressbook in a seperate window and copy/past

Why is this happening and what do we need to do to change this?

Best regards

Did you install it directly from the CD or did you modify the installation?
Do you have policies configured either local or on the server?

Its installed from CD.

Im not sure on the policies... On the one location the 4 windows XP are
standalone - no domaincontrollers or anything, and its not the samme
settings that are grayed out.
I can not change the settings on spamfilter, but I can mark my personal
contants to be included in the outlook addressbook for emails. This
setting is grayed out on one of the other computers.

But how can I check local/server policies?

If I open the profil from one of the users how cannot check the option
to include the personalcontacts in the addressbook the same thing
happens to me - is it part of the information written in the PRF file?
Or is it a setting on the Exchange server?

If I create a new folder in public folders and sets the content to
address information, then this folder also has the option to include it
in the addressbook for emails "grayed out"?

Still no ideas on who to fix this?

Would you be able to point out what was missing in the profil-file if I
posted it to you?

In section 2 of you prf-file add the following line
Service3=Outlook Address Book

There are no additional configuration options needed in section 4
