Setting up shared internet connection

P

Peter

I need some help on what it is I do wrong. I have at home
a adsl internet connection on my PC, I would like to share
this internet connection with my laptop.
In order to do that I bought a SMC networks 2.4GHz11 Mbps
Wireless b PCI Card and installed that one on my PC.
For the laptop I installed a Edimax Wireless LAN Cardbus
Adapter IEE802.11.
On my PC I have windows XP, while on the laptop windows ME.
The internet connection goes via a usb modem.
After having installed all equipment I went to the
configuration of my connection and set the sharing on.
Then I followed the wizzard of Windows XP on Homenetwork
or small businessnetwork installment. I selected my
wireless LAN connection and the internet connection. I
made the disk and installed it on the laptop.
So I thought everything will work. Boy was I wrong,
nothing really works.

Any tips for me or some good manuals for this whole thing?

Thanks already for any feedback

Hi There,
I am having problems with my ehternet port and ran across your problem. I had this trouble when I set up all of my computers to use the same dsl connection. I had to get a router to seperate the connections for my computers then contact my dsl provider to talk me through setting up a BRIDGED ETHERNET CONNECTION. Afterwards I contacted the router manufacturer to get instructions on the final connection steps. It was not something I could have done even with a manual and I am very computer literate. GL with your problem but all sharing is different with providers. You might try contacting them and go straight to the solution instead of guesswork or suggestions.
