setting up a search function

I want to set up a search function by typing in a query in, say fo
instance, cell A1. I want whatever is typed in A1 to be matche
against a specific column, for arguements sake, say A2 column. If th
query in A1 matches anything in A2 column, then I want to have tha
info. brought up on another cell, say cell A3 for example. I've bee
racking my mind but can't figure it out, I'm hoping people more savv
with excel can lend a hand. Thank you in advance

not really sure what you're trying to do (there's no A2 column for
instance). You may provide an example (with some example data in plain
text) to clarify your question :-)
