Here is my question: our company needs to set up a win2k lab. The lab is stand along and not connectd to the company domain or internet. In this lab we have a DC and IIS on seporate servers. We have three workstations in this little lab's domain. The problem is as soon as the DC comes up, the first entry in the event log is that there is no domain. It also mentions that the IP address resolves to a record called Host in the AD. The DC points to itself (IP address) and we are not using DHCP in the lab we are using static IP. What could be reasons the DC cannot find itself?

SOunds like the DDNS portion of the AD setup is slightly screwed up. YOu
might want to check the zone records to make sure that the A reference to
the DC is correct (not a loopback address).
