I read in windows Visa help that you can set the windows password time
period to expire from 1 to 999 days but it did not tell me how to do it .
Does anyone know?

Fro Vista Help & Support after typing "password",

Windows allows a network or system administrator to create a policy that
makes your password expire after a specified period of time (from 1 to 999
days). This is one way to help keep your computer more secure because it
forces you to periodically create a new password.

This is usually in conjunction with being a member of a domain on a
corporate (or other) network.
