Setting the size of command window

How can the default size of the command window be set in Win 2000 Pro?

I tried to increase the size of the window by selecting "Defaults" on the
context menu and then "Layout," but the size of the window does not change.
Not for the current window or the next new window.

Thank you.

The answer is:

1. Open a command line window. Use the window opened by entering "cmd" in
Run or which ever source of the command line window you use (e.g.
Accessories/Command Prompt).
2. press Alt space
3. select Properties/Layout/Window Size and change to desired size.
4. select OK
5. select "Modify shortcut that created this window.
