In Word 2007, attempting to set certain options, I notice a blue "i" in a
circle next to many of the options I want to change. I cannot change any of
those. Can someone tell me how to free up those options?

Thanks.

The blue "i" has nothing to do with whether or not you can change the options.
If memory serves, in early beta versions those symbols were buttons that would
show information about the options, but now all the options are described in the
help file -- click the question mark button at the top right of the options
dialog or press F1.

What happens when you try to change the options? Are the check boxes disabled
(grayed out), or do the options change back to the previous settings, or is
there something else going on?

The blue i's indicate that there's a screen tip for that item. Hover
over them and they'll appear.
