Hello,

I need to secure some files from accidental deletes. The Read-Only
attribute is protecting the files from re-writes, but I can still delete
these files. Is there a way? For FAT files? Thanks.

Best Regards,
T.I.

Thank you. Under NTFS, how can a file be protected from deletes? I tried
right-clicking the file with Windows Explorer, but I could not find that
check-box.

I think that Permissions might be what Bob was referring to.

If the files are set to the System attribute, you get a warning before you
can delete the files.

----------------------
Confirm File Delete
----------------------
The file 'some_name' is a system file.

If you remove it, your computer or one of your programs may no
longer work correctly. Are you sure you want to move it to the
Recycle bin?
----------------------

The warning scares some people off.

The System attribute is available in FAT32.

On the Security tab you will find those permission settings. Please look
up "file permissions" in Help and Support, for information and Step by
Step instructions.
