Setting default date format/Access to Excel conversion

When creating a .csv file from an Access table, the dates
in the subsequent Excel spreadsheet are in the date+time
(5/31/02 00:00) format even though the field in Access is
set to short date (5/31/02). Is there a way in Excel to
set the default date format to the short date so that we
don't have to manually change the date format in the
Excel.csv spreadsheet?

Do you really need a .csv file ? Usually you export Access data into
Excel (or import into Excel) direct.

I do this on a daily basis with an automated method that exports fom
Access to an Excel workbook (which is then copied with a new name). The
Excel sheet is formatted, and even has a blank row at the top for other
information added by the macro. It retains all the formatting, and the
access data goes into the right place (it sets up a named range). I set
it up originally by exporting from Access and formatting afterwards.
