Seting group visibility/dynamically resizing reports

Hi,

I'm building a report to generate invoices. There are several different
items (with different fields and layout) that could be on an invoice but they
may not be on every invoice.

Of course I want to have the report only display items that are being billed
and I'd rather not have loads of blank space all over my report. What's the
easiest way to do this?

My current thinking is that since there's only 3-4 different types of
line-item then having each one in it's own group might be the way to go. You
could set the group visibility to whether there is information to print for
that type of line-item.

Is there another better way to grow/shrink access reports in this manner?

Has anyone else ever solved this problem? I'd like to find out the best way
to handle this before I spend hours hacking away at Access =)

thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide

cheers

Nick:

The method you've suggested is pretty trusted; simply size your controls to
their smallest (say .0014) and let them, along with the section grow if
there is data. Alternately, you can move sections which may not contain
data into a sub report, which doesn't display is there isn't data, and again
put that in a totally different group on the report, sized to its a small
size and let it grow.
